What is the fastest way to learn to do a split?

I am preparing for a concert, and I would like to be able to do a split. Are there any exercises that I could do that would help? Thank you. What is the fastest way to learn to do a split?
Well if you want to see results fast you should try doing the following exercises once a day:

- streching your legs in second plie position as far as they can go

- touching your toes

- sitting with your legs straight in front of you and touching your toes while flexing and pointing your feet

- lifting each of your legs on a high surface to strech

-finally but most importantly you should go into a split position with your legs perfectly straight (doesn't matter how high off the ground you are as long as your legs are straight) and holding the split position however far down you may be for 5 minutes.

good luck and im sure youll get it:)What is the fastest way to learn to do a split?
You just have to stretch every day!

Go down as far down into your split as you can, and push yourself further a little more everyday. Once you're down, hold it there for as long as you can, preferably for a couple of minutes. Also, toe touches help.

Persistence is key, though. It might be a little easier to practice after you get out of the shower, because the warm water loosens up your muscles, and you can go down further.

Good luck! :)
Ok well I dance and there is a stretch that we do that helps your leg on a dance bar or a table or some thing and let that leg slide a few inches and bend the other and then take ur leg off the table or bar .ETC and try to hold it up and the air!

And the other is to hold ur heel and try to hold ur leg up as high as u can!

But it takes years to master a split! ; )

Oh and all so just sitting in a split position while ur watching tv or some thing helps too!! And it might hurt but if u can hold it for at least 2 or 3 minutes U will get past the pain! : )

';Hope I helped!'; ; )
as everyone said stretch. daily may be over doing it at first so graduate your way to that. hold as long as possible but stop when pain occurs. make sure you focus on your non dominate leg bc it really sucks to even ten years down the road see a HUGE difference in the two :/

also this is only if youre in idiot like me or just imaptient but using paper plates under the feet and a tiled or otherwise smooth surface can hep you slip into position. be careful if you do this stupid move. make sure you a: have a secured support to hold onto (barre, counter etc) and b: can ';slip'; into it but you need to have the strength and control to not only stop if it gets beyond your limits and also get back up again :] not wise but cant say it didnt work for me ten years ago :]
Try lunges.

In a sort of squat, bend your front knee and keep your other leg behind you straight. Push down on your torso until you feel a slight pull in your upper thigh. Then, straighten your front leg and bend your back lack and repeat. Switch legs, then repeat 5 times or so a couple of times a day.
stretching exercises. Do them a few times a day and everytime you attempt the splits, you will get a little closer. DOnt go nuts and try too hard or you will pull something and not be able to do the concert at all!

good luck to you
stretch for a while..

when you watch tv or something sit with your legs apart and reach straight out... dont hurt yourself .. just go as far as you can its okay if you can reach far.. put like a pillow in front so that you can just lay there.. this helps a lot
i would just stretch alot like do your left, middle, than right split each day and each day just try to go lower and lower or do the touch your toes thing
STRETCH seriously, it helps so much. practice practice practice. thats really the only advice i can give you.
i can do the splits but I strech just once a week doing things like touching my toe and flippedup
strech....good luck with ur concert

What is the difference between the window type and a split -type airconditioning? Which is more expensive?

Im designing an apartmnt building. In both cases, if it is provided in my units, will i need a cooling tower in the topmost floor? how big? What is the difference between the window type and a split -type airconditioning? Which is more expensive?
In a window type, it's only one unit. Cooling and heating is done in the same unit. In split time, cooling and heating is done in a seperate unit while it is passed through the one installed in side. In the later case, you just need a hole to pass the connectivity between the two units. For the second type, you will need to have a colling tower if you are offering it to all apartments. What is the difference between the window type and a split -type airconditioning? How do you learn splits with square hips?

I am a 12 yr old girl gymnast from Australia. I can go down in splits on one leg and nearly the other but my hips are bent. Because my hips are bent it is affecting my split jumps, split leaps, and change leaps. At the moment my hips are like this / they are supposed to be like this - . If you could give me some tips, drills, hints that would be great! How do you learn splits with square hips?
Stretch before doing or trying the splits

Go to a gym class

Practice! How do you learn splits with square hips?
try an oversplit, but so your back knee isnt on the floor. Another good one is to find a corner in your house and put your back knee down in the corner, so your back legs toes are pointing toward the ceiling. Then put your front leg out, so you're in a split, but with your back leg bent up. This will square out your hips. Also do a 15 minute stretch session in the morning, and another at night. If I've confused you with the 2nd bit, go to http://gymnastics.about.com/od/traininga鈥?/a>

and that pic but its easier with a corner.

Hope i helped and good luck with your splits and gymnastics
do over splits or when u do ur split go as far as u can with out ur hip un-squaring and hold it. go to a dance class it wil help with flexibility and ur dance! i wis i could say more but i have good splits so that's all i know hope it helps.

How do i fix split wood in my door frame caused by the screws in the hinges?

This is making my door drop i've already tried to fill in holes with wood then re-screw with longer screws which was a bad decision this has made the split in the door frame even greater. Is there a filler available that can fill in holes and repair the split wood where hinges go and then be able to hold a solid internal door when replaced or do i have to put a new door frame in which is expensive? Help much appreciated. How do i fix split wood in my door frame caused by the screws in the hinges?
buy some wood filler however it dries from inside out so depending on how deep the hole is if will take several days before you can rehang the doorHow do i fix split wood in my door frame caused by the screws in the hinges?
Marcus,

Truly, the only way to do it correctly is to replace the split wood. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you, but it seems to me you don't have to replace the entire door frame. only that piece of the frame where the screws are mounted, yes? There's no reason to tear out the entire frame. Remove just that damaged portion, then prime, paint to match and be done with it.

good luck

added: when I say replace that ';piece'; I mean the entire length of wood where the screws are mounted.
I would take the trim off on each side at the hinge side only take ahand saw and cut at top even with header take out split piece all the way down get a 3/4'; piece of wood the width may have to be cut down to fit install and shim put trim back on. Make sure drill holes 1st. this time and wood will not split.
I would use BONDO or automotive dent filler. mix as much as you need to work with and spread into the damaged area and smooth as much as possible. Let it dry until it hardens then lightly sand smooth. This should give you a sturdy repair so that you can drive your screws in again. Hope this helps.
you will have to replace the frame,

once wood splits it looses its ability to hold screws

next time pre drill the screw holes
bit of silocon or no nails or even poly filler

  • How much support do split sole tap shoes give your feet?

I have never had split sole tap shoes before and want to buy some as I love my split sole jazz shoes but I am a little worried about them not supporting my feet as well as full sole shoes. Any comments? How much support do split sole tap shoes give your feet?
no the split sole tap shoes are not that safe to tap on especially if you are a more advanced tapperHow much support do split sole tap shoes give your feet?
I have a few pairs of tap shoes. I tend to use my split sole tap shoes when doing a lot of toe work. I love and prefer them but everybody's different! Go in the store and give them a try. They might feel uncomfortable at 1st.
I use split sole jazz shoes too and i like them but i have full sole tap shoes. They make me feel more comfortable and when i am tapping really fast i prefer full sole. i think that full sole gives you more support.

When cutting your own split ends do you have to have special scissors?

I have veryyyy long hair with damaged and split ends. I bleached the underside of my hair years ago, so now I have shorter hair around my neck and almost all have split ends. This bugs the hell out of me and itches my neck. I cut my own here and there with regular scissors, but it seems like it makes it worse. Would using special scissors for hairdressers solve that? Where would you get those and about how much? When cutting your own split ends do you have to have special scissors?
Actually there are special scissors because the way the knives are on the regular scissors, it can actually give you split ends, and split ends if not treated works its way up the hair shaft. You need to go to a hair supply store like Sally's or even walgreens, and get the scissors made for trimming hair, and they should be named as such and they have a little curve on one of the handles. Also, it could be the way you are cutting your hair, like the way you hold your hand. It sounds like you need a deep condintion and you should probably go to a hairstylist to fix the damage you already have. If you wait to long you may have to cut your hair short to stop the damage. Have the stylist give you a deep condition and a trim, it should cost about 30-40 dollars maybe more since your hair is so long. I hope everything works out. When cutting your own split ends do you have to have special scissors?
i have long hair too and i also cut my own split ends. my hair grows when i do it but, your hair is getting worse which means that you are doing somethind totally wrong. when i first started doing my own hair i had the same problem. ididnt now what worked for me. so you should go to the beauty salon and let them handle it. you will only have to go a couple of times and you can learn how to od it yourself. but if you dony get profesional help now before you know it you will have short hair then no hair. trust me i know my hair used to be down my back now it just sweeps under my shoulders. but whatever type of scissors you have doesn't matter.
You should do what I do and roll your hair super tight like a burrito then the hairs that stick out should be the split ends and simply chop them off but be very careful not to cut your other hairs, and any scissors will do.If it still bugs you then go get a trim those leave you at least 95% spit ends free.
Don’t use hair dryers, curling irons, or hair straightening devices if you’re serious about getting rid of split ends. Anything that uses heat to treat your hair, barring “thermal hair treatments,” is bad for your hair. DONT brush your hair when its wet...... USE SHARP SCISSORS if you want to cut them.....Use this shampoo:

Sallys Beauty supply has some really nice scissors. The price ranges though. You can prolly get scissors there from $10.00 -$15.00-up to $1,000 I'm sure. Go to sally's beauty supply website and you can type in your area code and then they will tell you the praices to diffrent scissors you like.

    Hope I helped a little.
U shouldnt be cutting your slpit ends your self, you should have a hair dresser do that, otherwise YES you will need expensive scissors. I would suggest you use this product

once a week rub it into the ends of your hair, it works like magic!! I sweat this stuff!!!
They are called shears and you can get them at places like Sally's beauty supply. If your hair is thick cut only a little at a time. Use a comb as a guide to keep it straight and press the hair together with your fingures.
If you know what you're doing, just use your own home scissors. I do it all the time, and they work just fine. No need to spend $ on the fancy schmancy stuff.
Go to your local beauty supply store and buy hair cutting scissors. If you use craft or paper scissors you can make uneven cuts. Plus hair cutting scissors are sharper.
ITS BEST TO HAVE THE RIGHT SISSIORS, IF YOU DONT HAVE SALON SISSORS, THEN CUT AT AND ANGLE, THE ANGLE TOWARDS YOUR FACE...IF ITS ALOT OF HAIR PLEASE LET A STYLIST DO IT!!
go to a salon....DIY is not always the best way to go.

you need to use special hair dressing scissors get in touch with a hair dresser and ask were u get them from
Try hair shears at any beauty supply store...they range between 3 and 50 dollars

Is there a way to heal a duckling that has split legs?

My ducklings has split legs and has a hard time walking and running. I feel so sorry for him is there anything I can do to help it to heal or is it something he will live with for the rest of his life. Oh, he is about 4-5 weeks old.Is there a way to heal a duckling that has split legs?
YES! but do so wuickly! This is known as splay legs!

Make sure his nesting material is ***thick*** so that is will support his legs under him as they develop. Do this with all young birds. I like aspen pine shavings, as do many others. in a pinch used shredded newspapers thickly, but get ahold of aspen or something similar quick. Doing this Prevents splyed legs and can help them heal once it has happened.

Do you know that wound tape/sports tape that attackes to itself without being sticky. I cant recall the name, but your pharmacist will know what it is called. it adheres without being too hard to get back off. Wrap it around one of his legs up close to his feathers, making is somewhat thick and sturdey. They attach it over to the other legs, pulling them into place. Try not to make it so tight though that it will cut off ciculation.

If this does not last long enough, use the adhesive kind, but be advised that it will be harder to get off. Still, if you have to, you will need to go this way or your bird will live a very hard life! to get it off, just soak the everliving daylights out of it.

Also, ducks are terribly messy, as I'm sure you know. Try to keep the tape as clean as possible at least around the parts connected to his legs so no infections begin!

at 4-5 weeks I can only hope this works. if not, a vet may be needed.

if you need the brace between the legs to be sturdier, try cutting a tree stick to fit from out in the yard and wrap the tape around that. If you arent using a stick in the middle, just keep wrapping the tape on itself (the latter way is more expensive).

best of luck!Is there a way to heal a duckling that has split legs?
I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but you should defanitely take them to a vet, whether it's injury or deformity. They should be able to tell you whether the deformity is anywhere else; you have no way of knowing that something else isn't wrong inside. In the wild, they probably wouldn't survive, but if this is their only problem and they are well cared for, then they should be able to live a long and healthy life.
I hand fed a cockatiel that was hatched with splayed legs. With the help of a great vet we were able to getone leg back into the hip socket and kept it in a brace for 4 weeks and it worked like a proper leg should but the other leg didn't have a hip socket to be put into but he gets around fine and that was 9 yrs. ago and he's still doing great.
As best I know or have read there is no good nor realistic solution to ducks or chickens with hip and leg problems.Mostly it is a malformation which occurred in the egg.It can sometimes be caused (especially in chickens)By to much protein in the diet which causes to quick of a growth rate.Still there is no effective treatment and generally gets worse with time and age.
