How should my neighbors and I split up the cost of replacing the fence in the back yard?

My neighbors and I all share fences. It needs replacing. We are agreeing on the quality, height, etc. But, what is appropriate since one side of the fence is the nice side, and the other is the back. What percentage should we pay if we get the ';nice side';, versus the ';back side';. Or, I've also heard that the person who already has the nice side already ';owns'; the fence therefore is responsible. What is the correct ettiquette? How should my neighbors and I split up the cost of replacing the fence in the back yard?
A fence is considered 50/50, because it divides the property lines. Although if you get the bad side you can always add pickets to it to make it look better, but you will have to pay for them yourself. How should my neighbors and I split up the cost of replacing the fence in the back yard?
There is a EXCELLENT chance the fence is NOT directly in the property line. The fence is owned by the owner of the property it is actually on. That person is 100% responsible for the fence. That said, is anyone OFFERS to share the cost, there is nothing stopping them.

In my neighborhood, all the fences are slightly on one side or the other of property lines, so who ever owns the fence pays the full cost. I don't know if that's really fair. As long as everyone is happy, then you have a good solution.

If you're going to split the cost, and the sides are different, I suspect the person getting the ';nice'; side would pay 2/3 or 3/4 of the cost. I don't know for sure, and I think it varies greatly depending on where you live. Ask your neighbors (ones not directly involved), they'd know better.
I think the way to split it evenly would be too get the fence fixed and then split the total price 50/50 not just ur side and his/her side, but the total cost.
Put a fence up that looks the same on both sides and split cost equally.
