putting it in the garage would be a bad ideal...the garge would get way to hot and the condenser wouldnt cool the freon efficiently making the unit not cool good plus the compressor wouldnt last long because of high pressure on the valves plus the oil that lubricates it would break down because of the high heat and damage your compressor also..Split system air conditioners - can I place outside unit in a garage?
Yes, you can install the outdoor unit in the garage. But then you would have to install an additional unit in the garage to get rid of the heat that was dumped into the garage. You can pay for two systems if you want to, but I'd recommend extending the line set - it's cheaper................ Seek (and heed) expert advice.
This would be a bad idea. All the heat that the condenser rejects would build up in the garage. Eventually the garage would get so hot the condenser would overheat.
I would hate to think of what the head pressure would get up to. After a while if the unit does not have a high pressure cut out it would destroy the compressor.
You can put it anywhere you want but the problem is, the freon absorbs the heat from the evaporator when the air in the house passes over it and transfers it to the condenser where ever it is. If it is in the garage it will get progressively warmer in it and loose more efficiency the warmer it gets. ...Good Luck...
