What is the best way to split an audio book into chapters?

When I download an MP3 audio book from my local library, it is in a single audio file -- 10-15 hours long. I'm looking for some software that can split this file into segments so that it is easier to handle on my portable MP3 player. Any ideas? What is the best way to split an audio book into chapters?
There's no software that can do it automatically to my knowledge.

If you're looking to do it through a manual process you can always use SoundForge or a free sound editing program to cut the sound into segments. In fact, I'm fairly sure you can do this with Windows Movie Maker but I've been wrong before so don't take my word for it.What is the best way to split an audio book into chapters?
There's a free software which splits audio books automatically based on silence detection. You can easily set a specific segment length.

The tool is called AudiobookCutter.
