Is there a % base to split rent base don room size, or do most people split it 3 ways equally? I don't think that's fair, because the master bedroom is much larger, and had it's own private bathroom. Any suggestions? What's the fairest way to split up rent amongst roomates?
hmm well maybe get the square footage from the landlord and determine it by that OR just get the landlord to decide, that way there won't be any dispute ..
but really there should be a HUGE difference, the pricing should stay relatively the same, maybe $25-50 difference, reallyWhat's the fairest way to split up rent amongst roomates?
That's an Interesting point you made about the master bedroom, and whoever got it would have their own bathroom. So, I came up with a ratio of 36% for whoever gets the master bedroom and 32% for both folks that'll be sharing the main bath and having the other bedrooms. (A 36/32/32 split) How's that?
Just negotiate- it would depend on your circumstances.
I pay more than my roommate because I have the master bedroom which is attached to a bathroom..
We just negotiated until we came up with an amount that seemed fair..
Alot of people do it by square footage though..
yes room size and number in it. so lets say the master has 2 people and another has just 1 person in it then depending on the room size the 1 person may pay a bit more
Negotiate with the square feet that each person occupies. That's the most accurate and fair way.
