What can I put along the bottom of my split rail fence to keep my trimmer from tearing up the fencing?

What would be a good idea to preserve condition of the fencing near the ground?





I need something that isn't an eye sore either. I've killed the grass along the fence line, which has helped, but no matter how hard I try I keep hitting the metal fencing with the trimmer.





Any ideas?What can I put along the bottom of my split rail fence to keep my trimmer from tearing up the fencing?
Get some 1/4'; flat bar 4'; wide go along fence line with straight shovel down about 2'; and run bar along bottom of fence that will give you 2'; of bar for string to hit against. Good luck.
