I had to cut my hair because of split ends but I noticed that I still have a few split ends. I will be cutting it again in 4 weeks. However, I have already cut it too short and don't wan't to cut it any shorter now.If you have split ends, does the hair stop growing?Does hair grow from roots or tips?
Hey,

Im a hairdresser and everyone has different answers to how hair grows.

Yes it does grow from the root.

Have you ever seen a regrowth: that is when they colour their hair and their natural colour grows out, from the roots.

If you are trying to grow your hair make sure you get it trimmed every 2 - 3 months. Just so that you can get rid of your split ends, if you havent seen before when you leave your split ends and dont trim them they gradually split into two or crawl up higher on the strands of hair and make the split end even longer, leaving you to have to cut more off.

So just make sure you trim it when you start to notice them.

Avoid using straightners, blow dryers, and curling tongs.. these all dry out the hair and can cause split ends. If your blow waving it doesnt do too much damage to your hair, i blow wave my hair 3 times and week and i have barely any split ends because i use a heat protectant, protecting my hair from any damage and when i blow wave it im gentle and make it smooth rather than being rough. I get my hair cut ever 6 months and have barely any split ends, i have a two tone colour and am bleach blonde on top and brown under neath, let me re-assure you it doesnt matter what colour your hair is or wether you perm or blow wave it, its just wether you do it the correct way and protect your hair.

This is what i do and suggest you do the same to keep your hair in tip top condition..

Wash the hair your hair about 3 times a week.. if your hair gets oily you need to change your shampoo %26amp; cond.

1. Every 1 or 2 weeks depending on your hairs current condition use a treatment..

2. i highly reccoment a treatment from the brand fudge called dynamite.. you just replace it with your conditioner when you want to use it and leave in for 5 mins.. it leaves your hair in an awesome condition

3. You can blow wave or straightner, just make sure you do it smoothly and dont pull the hair because that causes breakage and split ends

4. use a heat protectant / serum

5. Get it trimmed when you notice split ends are starting to appear before they get worse

6. Speak to your local hairdresser about how you can style your own hair without damaging it. They will be more than happy to explain to you what your hair needs and how to keep it healthy.

7. Make sure you tell the hairdresser you want as mininal as possible off the lengths and if more is required to remove split ends that they let you know.

Hope i helped

Hair definetely grows from roots. Instead os wasting your money on the hairdressers every 4-6 weeks, why not try the split-ender. It's a cordless battery operated split end trimmer thats designed to sense where your split ends are and ONLY snip them away, so it only gets rid of split ends instead of uneccesarily cutting inches of the rest of your hair. RRP is $80, but you can get it off ebay for waaaaaay cheaper (like less than $30!!)

to buy it off ebay, either search split ender in ebay or simply go to:

It grows from the root....

Split ends ignored will continue up the shaft of the hair, so as soon as you can bear it, go and have another trim!!!

If you want to keep your hair in tip-top condition, have it trimmed every 6wks, use a conditioner, avoid streaking, straitening, blow-drying, bleaching, perming (or straitening solutions) tongs - any heated or chemical products etc
When u have split ends this means that the ends of the hair start splitting.Hair continues growing from the root but the splitting goes up the hair and because it splits it in two it makes it weaker and more brittle

So my advise is cut them and don`t worry about them anymore because if u don`t use straighteners or anything very harsh every day you`ll be fine and no split ends will appear

Just remember to condition every time u wash it and to use masks once a week

good luck:)
the hair grows from the roots

ans the hair dosen't stop growing , it will grow weak and dry

so you have to cut it an inch and half then start taking care of it

that is using a good shampoo and conditioner like dove , herbal and the best is loreal

also apply mayonaisse on your hair for an hour twice a week then wash and apply a good serium
No hair does not stop growing, it just has split ends. If you don't want to lose length just clearly let your stylist know you specifically just want the ends cut. And hair grows from the root. Example if someone shaves their head bald, the hair has to grow back from the root as their are no ends or tips for it to grow from.
Hair grows from the roots. Hair is actually dead cells - the only live cell is the follicle which is in your scalp.

With split ends your hair doesn't stop growing it's just that the ends have split. It can cause problems though.

When you get your hair cut again ask the hair dresser what to do to prevent split ends.
how would hair grow from the tips? use some good conditioner and special treatments for damaged hair. go to a beauty place and ask for hair repairing stuff. I don't know what kind of stuff you do but when you brush/comb your hair always start from the bottom and work to the top to easily undo tangles. try to avoid blow dryers and curling/flat irons if you can.
No,

Your hair grows from your roots.

But your hair will grow faster if you cut off the split ends...I don't know why. It just does. =DDDD

But you should not blowdry, straighten, Curl.

It will give you more split ends.

But use conditioner.
ok, so your hair grows from your roots.

if you have split ends CUT THEM OFF otherwise, they grow and so all of your hair is split ends, so all of your hair will be dead, SO YOUR HAIR WON'T GROW!

trust me, i'm an expert, and its happend to me.

good luck.
um

you have to get em trimmed at least an itch 6-8 weeks

other wise it will reach ur roots and cause breakage of the hair

it will slow down the growth of ur hair

it will get slower and slower and slower
hair grows from the roots.....duh lol

Think about it, when a person with say brown hair dyes their hair blonde, after a while the top starts to come in brown and it looks tacky because it comes from the root..
Sort of...When you have split ends for long periods of time, The split will travel up the strand, and it will result in breakage, Not really giving it a chance to grow long...Hair grows from roots.
Hair grows from the root, this is why people who dye their hair have ''root touch ups'' to cover the part that has grown.

Hair continues to grow even with split ends !!

But cutting hair often will gradually make your hair grow faster.

xxx
It grows frm the root.

I had bad split ends no matter how often i trimmed my hair within less than a week I had them.

My hair still grew really long.

I don't have that problem anym0re though
you can trim them, but they grow from their roots ..lol
CONdITIONER! don't blow dry either
It keeps growing just with split ends
hair grows from roots
