What is the best way to adjust your body 2 doing splits?

I'm in dance and its my goal this summer to do a split (either way). What is the best way to adjust your body to doing one? Do you do a routine each day to flex yourself r do u just go down a little more each day? What is the best way to adjust your body 2 doing splits?
Stretching is the best thing you can do. Intensive stretching. You will be pushing your bodies flexibility, particularly your muscles. Start small then work your way into a higher level of ';strain.'; If you watch TV, sit in a straddle on the floor and stretch generously while you do so. A whole TV show of that a day will help open up your muscles to be more plaible. Then, make sure you do a lot of other stretches, additionally to get all of your muslces working. I can email you some if you want. Doing the splits, make sure you are not flexing your toes, be sure to point them to obtain the best longetive stretch of your muscles. Gradually as you become more flexible, you will get lower and lower until you hit a perfect split. What is the best way to adjust your body 2 doing splits?
The key to flexibility is to be persistent and consistent. Stretch every day, and create a routine. Use multiple types of stretches, like the butterfly, pike, straddle, splits, etc.

Always hold a stretch at the point of mild discomfort. Stop if you feel any serious pain. Hold for a minimum of 20 or 30 seconds (more is better) and absolutely do not bounce in the stretch.

I usually recommend you stretch while doing something else (just don't lose track of the stretch, as over-stretching can cause injury) like watching TV, reading, homework, etc.

Make a routine and go through it once or twice a day, every day. You will see a difference, although it will take a little while, so be patient.

Each day go as far as you can (without hurting yourself) and hold it for about one minute. Also, every day go down a little bit more than the day before. It depends upon your flexibility, but it took me about a month to get flat. Don't push yourself too hard though, because then you will be very sore. You can also do different types of stretches to stretch out your legs, and sometimes I do ';wall splits';. That's when you stand up and split against the wall. By the end of the summer you should be flat!
Time yourself. Go down in your splits. Set a timer for 20 seconds, when that gets easier set it for 30. then 40, and so on until you get to a minute thirty seconds. Don't EVER have somoeone push you down, and don't over do it, if you're sore, then you're sore. Give it a rest for a day for two, but do your other stretches. YOU SHOULD DO A STRETCH ROUTINE EVERYDAY!!! That will help with your splits.
do pilates every day and you will be able to do a split in 2 weeks i know from experience..you can purchase a pilates/yoga dvd at a walmart or video store dont give up! And dont let how other people treat you at the dance studio get you down there either jealous of how beautiful you are or your talent.people are nasty to others when they recognize competition! Keep you head held high girl!!! xoxox
You need to stretch out beforehand, then each day try to go down a little more
