What is the best technique to learn how to do a split?

I want to learn how to do a split and I am pretty flexible but I practice just doing one as much as I can but is there an easier way to learn?What is the best technique to learn how to do a split?
you need to stretch ..and stretch and stretch. every day stretch out your muscles and hold it for 20 second time periods. less then 20 seconds and the muscles dont realize your stretching them. it will take some time because you need to let your muscles stretch out graduatlly. some exercises that i do every day...





start out doing butterfly exerciese and holding for a couple minutes. beat your legs for 20 seconds then hold still. repeat a few times until you are loosened up.





sit down on your bum and spread your legs out as far as you can and lean forward, stretch arms out. hold 20 seconds or longer. lean and grab your right/left foot and hold for 20 seconds. repeate if you want. (i usually end up holding for about a minute or longer but for me it feels good and im not in pain. if your in pain dont hold for long periods until you get use to 20 second periods first. over doing it will not enable you to do the splits.)





also in this position after you have stretched out, lean your out towards your right foot and then keeping your torso stretched out, ';swing'; to your left foot. go back and forth so you create a rocking motion. this is a good exercise to losen up your hips. you should feel your hips having to work hard to keep ballance and it should loosen up the muscles in your hips that regular stretching wont work.





just keep at it! it may take a while. dont ever do something if it hurts,you dont want to tear your muscles and injure yourself.
