Can you split up a Sims 3 family and still have both families playable?

The family's daughter grew up and got married. I want to have her move out with her husband to a new house but how do i keep it so that both families can be played and they are living in the same neighborhood and everything. In sims 2 I've done it. My friend has sims 3 but I have never played it. I went to the phone and did it i pressed one of the options (My dad deleted sims of the computer :( ) then it let me choose who I'd take with me. So i could play both of them. Good luck and I hope this helps ! (:
Yeah I dunno about the Sims three but in mine you can just click 'find own place' on the computer and choose who you want to move out with that sim and they'll end up in the family bin on the neighborhood view and you can choose which house to move them into.
