How do i unlock or make it split-screen co-op on Dynasty Warirriors 6 Empires when i start from the beginning?

How do i unlock or make it split-screen co-op on Dynasty Warirriors 6 Empires when i start from the beginning? I want to play with a friend but i dunno how to set it, don't mention the manual because its useless. Do i have to get some friends or officers in the game or what?How do i unlock or make it split-screen co-op on Dynasty Warirriors 6 Empires when i start from the beginning?
i know this is a late answer but here it is





As a ruler, you can choose an officer as a friend.





As an officer, you make friends through events such as: saving an officer in battle, impressing another officer, or by choosing a mercenary assignment from another officer.





Once you have friends, you can access 2-player co-op play.





1) At the Strategy screen, select Battle.


2) Select either Assignment or Mercenary and press ENTER to continue.





a. If you choose Assignment


i. This will bring you to the Allies screen.


ii. Move the cursor to an available slot in the Deploy list and then press ENTER.


iii. Next, choose an officer from the Friends list then press ENTER.


iv. Press START on the second controller.


v. Player 1 must select confirm to continue.





b. If you choose Mercenary


i. Choose a mission and press ENTER. This will take you to the Allies screen.


ii. Move the cursor to an available slot in the Deploy list and then press ENTER.


iii. Next, choose an officer from the Friends list then press ENTER.


iv. Press START on the second controller.


v. Player 1 must select confirm to continue.
