I bought some dwarf lily bulbs from walmart a while ago for my aquarium. one of the two bulbs grew and i want to split it and give some of the plant to my friend. how do i go about doing this so i will have two lily plants? How do i split the dwarf lily plant in my aquarium?
When they are large enough, they should form more bulbs on their sides. If there are two heads now inside the bulb, you might be able to tear them apart gently with your hands, but you will need to be careful to cut the base so that the bulbs do not break off of it - because a bulb with no root pad attached at the base is a bulb that is going to die. It would be safer to wait until the larger bulb decidest to form a separate bulb on its side on its own - you still need to be careful that those get some of the root pad when you take them off, but the originial bulb is much less at risk when you remove a side bulb than trying to split the main bulb mass.
