I am asking about the time starting around 30 CE and going to and not including the final fall of Jerusalem in 70 CE or 70 AD. I am sure both sides will have differing views. When did Judaism and Christianity begin to split into two different religions?
The very second that a few of the people who followed Jesus affirmed belief in his resurrection, and his 'divinity'. That was the moment when those people 'left' Judaism, because it's a violation OF Judaism to place any mortal on a par with G-d.
And when Paul couldn't get the rest of the Jews to abandon Torah, in order to worship the dead Jesus, he went and prayed to the Gentiles, and effectively started what we today know as Xianity.
The 'official' and final split between the faiths came when Jesus was officially and publicly deified, and declared to be 'god incarnate'. Worshipping Jesus or any human = IDOLATRY for Jews.
http://www.ajewwithaview.comWhen did Judaism and Christianity begin to split into two different religions?
There seems to be a lot of serious but incomplete answers to your question here. The truth is that the split was caused well before the birth of Christianity. The fissure between the two religions goes back to ancient Egypt and their perverse love of cats.
Cats once held a prominent place in Jewish life but one day it all came to an end. It is said in one of the Jewish apocryphal books there is a story of David. It is said he was repairing the drain under a kitchen sink. He was not wearing any clothes. A cat came up behind him. Well I think you know how the rest goes. After the incident David had them removed from the Psalms where they once had a prominent place. The last Psalm was dedicated to cats. It was the 151st Psalm. As I am sure you know there are only 150 psalms now. He also had them removed for the Story of Creation where it is said that there was a story of a cat in a tree. The original story as it was lost in time.
The pattern set by the Jews would only continue with the Christians. I all started with the reformation. There were 5 points on which were called the hinge of the reformation Sola Scriptura, Sola Fede, The Universal Priesthood of all believers, that all Personal interpretations were valid and lastly Cate ileminate, which means that Cats were evil and should be eliminated from the bible. After extensive communication Luther's doctrine on cats was adopted by the Catholic Church. It was the one thing everyone could agree on. Two centuries later the Orthodox Church followed. As more and more Protestant denominations formed none returned cats to their original place in the Bible except for the Jehovah Witnesses. Who seem to take them in and out every year or so. The Mormons likewise also put them back in only to later remove them when one of their leader's had a ';new '; revelation. It didn't create much of a stir because Most Christians don't consider Mormons to be Christians anyway.
So it was the mutual distrust of Cats and the inability of both religions to know how to deal with it that has driven the two religions apart. These worthless fur balls have been a scourge on humanity since the beginning of time.

Yes. The split occurred after the failed revolt of Rome. The destruction of the 2nd Temple, the death of many men, the rape of many women, and the birth of babies. This was the fulfillment of Moses' prophesy:
***45And all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou didst not hearken unto the voice of HaShem thy G-d, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded thee. 46 And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever; 47 because thou didst not serve HaShem thy G-d with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, by reason of the abundance of all things; 48 therefore shalt thou serve thine enemy whom HaShem shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things; and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee. 49 HaShem will bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as the vulture swoopeth down; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
50 a nation of fierce countenance, that shall not regard the person of the old, nor show favour to the young. ...58 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and awful Name, HaShem thy G-d; ...64
And HaShem shall scatter thee among all peoples, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou nor thy fathers, even wood and stone. 65 And among these nations shalt thou have no repose, and there shall be no rest for the sole of thy foot; but HaShem shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and languishing of soul. 66 And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear night and day, and shalt have no assurance of thy life.*** http://www.hareidi.org/bible/Deuteronomy…

Then where is the Temple? Why can't Jews find one priest in their midst that can trace his lineage back to Aaron? Why can't Jews find one person who can trace his lineage to David? The silence is deafening.

So when you are standing in front of the risen Lord with 500 other people, you split with Judaism....for what reason? Who but God can raise a man from the dead? Sure, other prophets raised other people but no one raised himself.

If you could line up with what the Tanach teaches, you could speak on behalf of Judaism instead of simply voice your opinion.

Ahaziah is not recorded as practicing Judaism one day in his life. His mother was Jezebel, a Gentile. His parents killed the prophets to the point Elijah thought he was the only faithful one left.
None of what you say matches scriptures as Ahaziah was Jewish. If Ahaziah was Jewish, one can't lose their heritage by their faith or by being the son of a Gentile woman.
I would say at the Day of Pentecost when the disciples of Jesus received the Holy Ghost so they could go out and preach the gospel and convert people to Christianity. While Jesus was still on earth he was a Jew; he practiced that religion. He went to the synagogues and he read from the Book of Laws. At the same time He came to establish a new covenant with His people which I believe came into effect when He reascended to Heaven. Christianity then became the new religion as His disciples carried out His message. However when the Romans adopted Christianity as the official state religion around 300 AD is when I believe it became official.
They never ';split'; since the Jews never accepted Christianity as orthodox from the very beginning.
Peter tried to merge the two (politically) and to some extent so did Paul (had Timothy circumcised) but soon after abandoned all such attempts and just developed the new religion arguing the complete fulfillment of Jewish laws in Jesus.
It all started with a couple of rabbi's being tricked into eating honey baked ham. After that they decided to write the new testament to get rid of inconvenient laws and rules. Specifically the ones against pork. Because once you try a good honey baked ham, you never will be happy unless you can have it once in a while.
Some average jews, when they heard about the Messiah, they were expecting a glorious, aggresive leader like king solomon and david. When they saw that Jesus was an average man they didn't believe he was the son of God. The Jews that did follow Jesus' teaching, centuries later the Christianity religon formed.
You could pinpoint a lot of specific dates..but I'd say 32AD when the Disciples of Jesus started to preach and spread their message. At that point..they moved from just being ';followers of a guy named Jesus'; to actually claiming he was the Son of God who ROSE from the dead to forgive sins. They started to preach this in the areas outside of Jerusalem and in the outer parts of the Roman empire.
So I'd say that as soon as they started Preaching..they split from Judiasm.
Well, one could argue that the early Christians were an offshoot of Judaism, but once Paul started converting gentiles, I'd say it became a religion in its own right at that point. But that's one of those things where you have to ask where Judaism ceases to be Judaism.
The simple answer to this is that once Paul started preaching to the Gentiles, Christianity as a religion separate from Judaism was born. Up until then, one needed to be Jewish in order to be a Christian.
The original christians, as well as Jesus, were jews. The ones that didn't want to believe he was God, stayed jewish. So, I guess you could say that the split started when jesus started his Earthly ministry.
Ah, no one knows, exactly. The only real documentation we have on that particular issue are the writings of the New Testament, and people can't even agree on when they were written or who wrote them.
2000 years ago -- when Jesus began preaching.
The exact date is uncertain, but would have been around 25 - 30 AD, based on the Gregoria calendar used today.
In my opinion it's when Paul started proselytizing mainly to gentiles.
When the Jews rejected the Messiah.
The major split is following the revolt of 70 ad.
The day that the disciples accepted that Jesus was Divine. The thought of God in human flesh is very un-Jewish.
Once people began to believe that Jesus really was the messiah.
when Jesus walked the earth....AD 29
When did the separation begin? The very first mention is the Gospel of John 12:20-25 “Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast. Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn Andrew and Philip told Jesus. But Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.”
When Jesus is told that Non- Jews have come to see him to receive his message he responds with “the hour has come”. This is the first indication that Jesus would be turning his ministry and directing it beyond Jews.
Now in Acts 12:34-48 we have the following: “Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him. The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ—He is Lord of all— that word you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree. Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly, not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead. And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead. To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.” While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered, “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.';
So we have Peter not Paul behind to sharing of the Gospel with the gentiles. The “split” became more evident with the persecution of the early followers of Jesus. Regardless of what others say the majority of the Christian Bible was written by Jews. To the best of my knowledge the only works in the Bible that were not written by Jews would be Luke and Acts. The idea that “An entirely new religion with contrary theologies” to Judaism or “nor related to, nor a split from Judaism.” is absurd in light of history.
It didn't split. Judaism existed %26amp; continued to exist. An entirely new religion with contrary theologies developed around that time. It claimed beginnings in Judaism %26amp; has a lot to say about Judaism, but it isn't a part of, nor related to, nor a split from Judaism. It's a different religion that developed. For the timeline, I think Christians will answer better than I can.
What is called Judaism did not start in the middle east.
The religon of the Israelites were given to them through Moses
At Mt Sinia
Christanity began with Christ
European Talmudism/Judaism started in the middle ages in Europe.
It began after the crusaders brought back half baked versions of the accounts of the holy land.. then told their European people they were descendants of the Israelites
Christanity is NOT a spin off of Judaism/Talmudism
Christanity only accepts the historic accounts of the OT, they do not claim to keep the laws of the Israelites
and NO one on earth follows the laws of Moses
it's very hard to tell times, but the two biggest factors would likely be saul/paul's changing jesus' message to attract non-jewish followers, and that in the revolt circa 70ce the christians thought jesus was returning and abandoned their jewish brothern
In physical reality; When Jesus called His first disciple into service.
In Spiritual reality; At Pentecost.
The exact dates of ether event are uncertain.
christians didn't like bagels and lox.
